VMware Tanzu looks forward to Cloud Foundry Day Europe 2024

This post is part of a series of sponsored posts written leading up to Cloud Foundry Day EU 2024. Authored by Nick Kuhn, who is a Technical Marketing Expert at VMware Tanzu and long time CF enthusiast.

VMware Tanzu is again honored to attend and sponsor Cloud Foundry Day Europe 2024! Team Tanzu will send many speakers and contributors to the Cloud Foundry community in Karlsruhe, Germany!

Here are the top five reasons why you should attend Cloud Foundry Day Europe 2024:

  1. A truly global community: As we look forward to our second Cloud Foundry Day of the year, it’s great to see the combined global strength of the Cloud Foundry community. The schedule is jam-packed with working group updates, sessions from VMware Tanzu, SAP, Anynines GmbH, Gstack, Fivetwenety Inc, and a “Stealth Startup.” It will be great to see all the updates from the various companies that drive the Cloud Foundry ecosystem. Julian Fischer will kick off the event with his session titled The Cloud Foundry Renaissance, which will dive deep into how running large-scale Cloud Foundry foundations provides extremely efficient and cost-effective compared to Kubernetes-based deployments. I am personally looking forward to Julian’s talk as this is a trend we continue to see within the global Cloud foundry install base.

  1. Continuous innovation with the best single-track conference: One of my favorite features about Cloud Foundry Days is the single-track format. This means that all sessions are held within the same room, and you don’t have to contend with sessions competing for the same time slot. Sit back and relax, as you can take in all the great Cloud Foundry content without changing your seat! Some sessions that have piqued my interest are:
    • Genomics and AI on Cloud Foundry: This session looks extremely interesting as Tim Harris from a “Stealth Startup” will discuss how Cloud Foundry can be a useful platform for AI and ML geared towards genomic research for medicines that aim to tackle age-related diseases and cancer.
    • Carvel and Bosh, a Match Made in Heaven?: VMware Tanzu’s very own Ruben Koster will dive deep into how one can integrate a carvel package into a BOSH release. This session will be an exciting blend of Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry-based technologies.
    • Application Runtime Platform Update: Amelia Downs from VMware Tanzu will provide an update on all the new features and functionality being added to core components of Cloud Foundry, such as Diego, Garden, Networking, etc. Amelia will also provide an update on what’s next for the Application Runtime Platform’s working group feature set.
    • Cost Optimization in Cloud Foundry Through Economies of Scale: Plamen Doychev and Konstantin Lapkov will provide critical learnings and insights from SAP as they share lessons learned and practical insights from running Cloud Operations at scale within SAP.
  1. The Hallway Track: In between sessions, catch up with colleges and community members in The “Hallway Track.” It’s generally one of the most valuable and undocumented sessions of any conference. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear what your peers are doing in the Cloud Foundry ecosystem. Lunchtime will be an excellent opportunity to meet new members of the Cloud Foundry community and share your insights and stories!
  1. Cloud Foundry Weekly returns to the live stage at Karlsruhe: Based on the resounding success of the first live episode of Cloud Foundry Weekly: Live at CF Day NYC, Nicky Pike and Nick Kuhn will bring the show to Cloud Foundry Day Europe 2024 in Karlsruhe. They will be joined by their special guest star and Cloud Foundry user, Daniel Boegelein, who will share real-world stories and use cases of how Cloud Foundry operates within Datev eG. Last but not least, Amelia Downs, a friend of the pod and resident Cloud Foundry contributor on the show, will join the panel to share her perspectives as a member of the Cloud Foundry ToC. I look forward to Cloud Foundry users and contributors sharing their stories and visions for the future.
  1. Celebrate with the community: There is no better way to close out a Cloud Foundry Day than to celebrate and relax at the community reception! This year’s event will be hosted at Kesselhaus Karlsruhe, which looks like a fantastic venue to connect with members of the Cloud Foundry community!
