World’s largest airline joins other Cloud Foundry end users to drive innovative products and services

SAN FRANCISCO, September 7, 2017 – Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, announced today that American Airlines, the world’s largest airline, has become the first airline to join the Foundation. American joins the ranks of Google, Ford, Allianz, Swisscom and GE as a foundation Gold member. At this tier, American has the benefit of nominating a candidate for one of the two designated Gold seats on the Cloud Foundry Board of Directors.

“American is committed to providing an exceptional experience for our customers and team members based on industry expertise and innovation,” said Steven Leist, Vice President Enterprise Technology Services, American Airlines. “We believe strongly in the efficiency and resiliency of the cloud and our commitment to Cloud Foundry will allow us to bring more agile and innovative solutions to rapidly respond to our customers and our team.”

“The Foundation continues to add the most innovative Cloud Foundry end users. In fact, users account for almost 40% of our membership now. American Airlines is revolutionizing the travel experience, and we welcome the insights and expertise they can bring to Cloud Foundry,” said Abby Kearns, Executive Director, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “Gold membership gives American Airlines an opportunity to be a leader in our community.”
