Last week Cloud Foundry – contributors, members and future users – were at LinuxCon!
We had an awesome booth where we got a lot of great questions and had fun ourselves. We had three types of people stop by the booth: newbies, curious and fans!
- Newbies: We gave away tshirts so we got a lot of the polite “What is it?” questions – hopefully those newbies left a bit more informed.
- Curious: We also got a lot of great questions from people exploring Cloud Foundry. Many people from large enterprises stopped to tell us they were installing it and using it in parts of their organization. They had very specific usage questions.
- Fans: In addition, much to my delight, we got several questions and offers to help from people who wanted to contribute to Cloud Foundry. (We are always looking for Meetup speakers and we are planning a doc sprint for September 30th.)
There were several keynotes and lots of talks covering Cloud Foundry. (Recordings coming soon.)
- Sam Ramji, CEO of the Cloud Foundry Foundation, gave a keynote The Makings of a Modern Application Architecture that continued his thinking about prescriptive vs assemble it yourself cloud infrastructures, how open source and foundations play into that and how businesses are adapting to continuous innovation.
- Duncan Johnston-Watt, Founder and CEO, of Cloudsoft gave a keynote on Clocker.io, the Apache licensed open source Docker cloud maker.
- David Persing, Director of Engineering at Nebari Software gave a talk about how Cloud Foundry enabled his organization to stop worrying about the infrastructure so that the developers could just focus on code. Just Let Me Code: How We Got Our Groove Back with AppFog & Cloud Foundry.
- Chris Sterling from CenturyLink gave two talks, one on configuration management, Reduce Time to Value: Focus First on Configuration Management Debt, and one on the Lean model within Cloud Foundry, From Zero to Continuous Validated Learning: Lean Startup on PaaS.
- David Soul from VMware gave a talk on containers in Cloud Foundry, Container Ops: Using Platform Tooling to Build Your App Management Story. His slides are on Slideshare.
- Ramiro Salas from VMware gave a talk on Cloud Foundry on OpenStack, It’s what’s on the Stack That Matters! That’s been a highly requested topic lately!
And fun was had by all at the VIP party!
