Bloomberg Joins Cloud Foundry Foundation as a Silver-tier Member
In a remarkable step towards fostering innovation and driving the adoption of platforms for software development, we are thrilled to announce that Bloomberg, a global leader in business and financial information, has officially become a member of the Cloud Foundry Foundation. This partnership signifies a new era of collaborative excellence, where Bloomberg’s relentless commitment to thinking bigger will undoubtedly elevate the Cloud Foundry open source projects to new heights.
Bloomberg makes heavy use of open source to deliver real-time data, news, and analytics to hundreds of thousands of decision makers across business, finance, government, policy and philanthropy. “Over the last decade, we’ve made a significant push to adopt cloud native standards across our operations, and integrate cloud native tooling, like Kubernetes, at both the application and infrastructure level, ” said Andrey Rybka, Head of Compute Architecture in the Office of the CTO at Bloomberg.
“Bloomberg’s Managed Compute technology platforms, which run on Kubernetes, utilize Paketo Buildpacks to package our source code into secure, efficient, production-ready container images,” said Sambhav Kothari, Team Lead of the ML Productivity Engineering team in Bloomberg’s AI Engineering group and a member of the Buildpacks Technical Oversight Committee (TOC). “With Buildpacks, our engineers save time in developing their applications and our platform engineering teams can more easily manage the overall software supply chain.”
There is a lot to look forward to as Bloomberg joins hands with the Cloud Foundry Foundation. They unite under a common vision: to drive global awareness and adoption of Cloud Foundry projects – particularly Paketo Buildpacks. There is also an intent to cultivate a thriving community of contributors, and establish coherence in strategy across all member companies.
“Our alliance will harness the power of marketing to spotlight the growing Paketo community. We will share success stories, industry trends, and insights to demonstrate the tangible benefits of Cloud Native Buildpacks’ adoption. Through this, we will set our sights on inspiring other organizations to embrace this innovative technology,” added Ram Iyengar, Chief Evangelist at the Cloud Foundry Foundation.
With this announcement, the Buildpacks and Cloud Foundry communities stand on the precipice of an exciting future. Together, we will embark on a journey of innovation, collaboration, and progress. As we move forward, we invite contributions from individuals and organizations interested in pushing the boundaries of cloud-native platforms, especially on Kubernetes.
“At the heart of our partnership lies a commitment to fair governance and boundless optimism. Together, we will steer Paketo’s course with transparency and inclusivity, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued”, said Chris Clark, Program Manager at the Cloud Foundry Foundation. “This collective effort is aimed at enriching the Cloud Foundry ecosystem through marketing the economic and technical activities within it,” he added.
