Description

It was discovered that FreeType incorrectly handled certain malformed font files. If a user were tricked into using a specially crafted font file, a remote attacker could cause FreeType to crash, or possibly execute arbitrary code. Update Instructions: Run `sudo pro fix USN-6062-1` to fix the vulnerability. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: freetype2-doc – 2.10.1-2ubuntu0.3 libfreetype6-dev – 2.10.1-2ubuntu0.3 libfreetype-dev – 2.10.1-2ubuntu0.3 freetype2-demos – 2.10.1-2ubuntu0.3 libfreetype6 – 2.10.1-2ubuntu0.3 No subscription required

Mitigation

Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below. The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • cflinuxfs4
    • Upgrade all versions to 1.9.0 or greater
  • Jammy Stemcells
    • Upgrade 1.x versions to 1.117 or greater
    • All other stemcells should be upgraded to the latest version available on bosh.io.
  • CF Deployment
    • For all versions, upgrade Jammy Stemcells to 1.117 or greater
