Description
David Gstir discovered that libcap2 incorrectly handled certain return codes. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause libcap2 to consume memory, leading to a denial of service. (CVE-2023-2602) Richard Weinberger discovered that libcap2 incorrectly handled certain long input strings. An attacker could use this issue to cause libcap2 to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2023-2603) Update Instructions: Run `sudo pro fix USN-6166-1` to fix the vulnerability. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: libcap2 – 1:2.32-1ubuntu0.1 libcap2-bin – 1:2.32-1ubuntu0.1 libpam-cap – 1:2.32-1ubuntu0.1 libcap-dev – 1:2.32-1ubuntu0.1 No subscription required

Mitigation
Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below.
The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:
- cflinuxfs4
- Upgrade all versions to 1.19.0 or greater
- Jammy Stemcells
- Upgrade 1.x versions to 1.147 or greater
- All other stemcells should be upgraded to the latest version available on bosh.io.
- CF Deployment
- For all versions, upgrade Jammy Stemcells to 1.147 or greater
