The United States General Services Administration (GSA) today announced 18F’s cloud.gov has been FedRAMP Authorized. According to the 18F blog, “FedRAMP Authorized status marks completion of a comprehensive security and compliance assessment that enables federal agencies to start using cloud.gov with significantly reduced effort.”
Cloud.gov was announced in May 2015 after 18F adapted Cloud Foundry to meet its specific needs. The site makes it quick and easy for federal agencies to host and update websites and applications, streamlining the often complex infrastructure and compliance requirements baked into federal systems. 18F built cloud.gov with the goal of FedRAMP Authorization. It is now the second CSP to complete FedRAMP Accelerated in less than six months, according to the GSA blog.
