Call for papers now open, track will take a practical look at cloud-native Java
SAN FRANCISCO — February 1, 2017 — Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, today announced that VMware®, the company accelerating digital transformation for enterprises, will be hosting a cloud-native Java track at the Cloud Foundry Summit Silicon Valley. VMware is also a Cloud Foundry Summit Silicon Valley Platinum sponsor.
Cloud Foundry Summit Silicon Valley will take place June 13-15 in Santa Clara, California and is the premier event for enterprise application developers. The event will focus on microservices and continuous delivery in all frameworks. As such, VMware seeks speaking proposals on best practices and tips implementing microservices in cloud environments using various languages including Java, Javascript, Ruby, Node.js and Golang as well as Cloud Foundry user stories from the developer perspective.
“Cloud Foundry is the go-to platform for cloud-native apps, including those written in the VMware-sponsored Spring framework. At Summit we’ll select the best talks that demonstrate patterns, technologies and practices that will make you successful with Java apps,” said Richard Seroter, senior director of Product at VMware and track chair. “The sessions in this track will take a practical look at how to successfully develop and deploy Java microservices on Cloud Foundry.”
Attendees will join other developers and CIOs to gain first-hand access to Cloud Foundry roadmaps, training and tutorials, and to see how others are using Cloud Foundry to support continuous innovation and application portability. Keynote speakers and full conference schedules will be announced early this Spring.
In 2016, nearly 1800 attendees from 24 countries showcased information from innovators and technical leaders at companies including Allstate, Comcast, Volkswagen and others. The Summit will host several breakout sessions including those that focus on Cloud Foundry core updates from project leads, Cloud Foundry experiments and developer community tracks, which will be named in the coming weeks.
“With a strong emphasis on languages, microservices and agile development best practices for the cloud, Summit Silicon Valley is the premier event for developers,” said Abby Kearns, Executive Director, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “We’re thrilled VMware is taking the lead to drive this track forward, as Java developers make up a significant part of our community. ”
Cloud Foundry is collectively developed by Cisco, Dell EMC, IBM, VMware, SAP, SUSE, VMware, and leaders in manufacturing, telecommunications and financial services. Only Cloud Foundry delivers the velocity needed to continuously deliver apps at the speed of business. Cloud Foundry’s container-based architecture runs apps in any language on your choice of cloud — Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, OpenStack, VMware vSphere, SoftLayer and more.
